Less budget administration

A simpler budgeting app: one number you can use.

If you do not want to maintain dozens of categories or constantly recalculate what is safe to spend, focus on the spending areas that actually need a boundary.

Budgeting can become a second job when every purchase needs a category, every category needs a monthly reset, and every decision requires mental math. A simpler system starts by asking what information you actually need before you spend.

Track the categories that can derail the plan

For many people, fixed bills are predictable. The uncertainty comes from flexible spending: groceries, restaurants, clothes, entertainment, hobbies, family spending, travel, and other purchases that can expand without much warning.

Instead of forcing every expense into an elaborate system, My Money Train lets you create trains for the categories where a live boundary is useful.

Give each category one live amount

Each train answers the same question: how much spending room is available right now? The number reflects the pace you chose, the time that has passed, and purchases you recorded.

Example:

If your dining-out train is well ahead, going out for dinner may fit comfortably. If it is behind, the same purchase has a different meaning. You do not have to reconstruct the month in your head to see the difference.

Visual feedback instead of more columns

The train itself acts as a shortcut. As your cushion grows or shrinks, the visual state changes. That makes it possible to understand the direction of your spending before digging into detailed history.

Start small

The free version includes up to three trains, which is enough to test the method on the categories that matter most. Pro adds unlimited trains, sharing, additional visual themes, custom train-level thresholds, full widget configuration, and CSV export.

Share spending without replacing personal trains

With Pro, shared trains can sit alongside personal trains. That makes it possible for two people to follow the same live balances for household spending while keeping their individual trains separate.

Simple does not mean ignoring the plan.

It means putting the most useful information — the amount you can act on today — where you can see it quickly.
