Monthly budgets are useful for planning, but everyday spending happens one decision at a time. A daily spending budget adds the missing layer: it helps translate a longer-term target into an amount that makes sense right now.
What is a daily spending pace?
A spending pace is the rate at which you want money to become available for a category. My Money Train converts your target into a continuous pace. The app then keeps one live balance for that train.
- Time increases the available balance.
- Recorded purchases decrease it.
- Spending less than the pace builds a cushion.
- Spending faster than the pace pushes the train behind.
Why continuous is different from a daily allowance
A rigid daily allowance can create its own problems. Spend nothing Monday and a traditional daily limit may still start Tuesday from the same fixed number. With My Money Train, progress carries forward. A quiet day can create more room for a later purchase.
You are not trying to hit an identical spending amount every day. You are trying to stay near a sustainable pace over time.
Use separate trains where they help
You might create a train for groceries, dining out, clothes, entertainment, household spending, or personal fun money. The free version supports up to three trains, while Pro adds more trains and additional controls.
See whether you are ahead or behind
A number is useful, but My Money Train also uses train levels and days-ahead or days-behind information to make the trend easier to understand. If you build a cushion, the train gets stronger. If you fall behind, it shows the strain and gives you a visible path back.
Keep the number close
The Home Screen widget can show selected train balances without opening the app. That makes the spending plan easier to check at the moment you are deciding whether to buy something.
A pace-based system can keep yesterday's progress and make today's spending decision easier to understand.
